Don’t Leave Me Alone Daisy

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

Synopsis
Surrounded only by his inventions, Techno doesn’t really interact with other people much. However, one day, a girl attempts to ‘break into’ his fortress. This hapless passerby, a girl named Hitomi, becomes the object of his affection. Techno decides to name her ‘Daisy,’ and begins planning to make her his, using all his skills as an inventor and scientist to win her heart.

Review
Since I began watching anime (all those years ago ^^), my friends have been saying nothing but good things about this series. So I had high expectations for it, and it actually lives up to most of them. It is actually alot
funnier than I was told. From Techno replacing his teacher with a robot that shoots lasers from her eyes to him kidnapping Hitomi for a ski trip (in Siberia, of all places), Techno’s cluelessness is just hilarious. But other than this silliness, this is just another romantic comedy. But in the midde of the series, Techno makes such huge error (which I can’t tell you..it’ll ruin the story ^^) and from then on the story truely gets interesting. However from that point it also speeds up to a breakneck pace, stuffing what could have been 10 episodes into only six. But in the end, this is really a
creative and very funny series, which has not got the attention that it so richly deserves.

The Breakdown
Wonderful, creative anime! It doesn’t go amazingly beyond the surface of the characters (other than Techno), but it is a fun diversion.

Onegai Teacher: 7th Mail

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

Synopsis
Anime show ‘Onegai Teacher’ started airing on January 10, 2002 on WOWOW. The show’s heroine Kazami Mizuho - an alien observation specialist - is played by the voice of hugely popular voice actress Kikuko Inoue. -CDJapan

Review
Onegai Teacher will always be one of my favorite titles. This is one of those OAV’s, where the director just wants to give what the fans want. The 7th Mail does a fine job bringing what the fans want, by displaying relationships that are in the TV series and extend upon it. Of course this final episode to the first series is not only about that. Our buddy Kei seems to have problems with our lovely teacher Kazami Mizuho. Well, both Kei and Mizuho are kind of shy and they still have not done what married couples do. What is better than having his mother in law, Hatsuho, stepping in, and give a little hand to the two?

The whole episode was all fun as it displays Kei being spotted by all of his best friends with a girl (something he did not want). One of his friends, Matagu made a big deal out of it, because he still does not have a girlfriend. That is when he gets teleported to the storage room by Hatsuho. Mizuho was everything but happy when she found out about her mother holding Kei’s hand and taking him into a hotel. Even Maho was going out with Kei until Matagu came in and confronted the two.

I did mention this OAV is all about fun right? As episode thirteen comes to a close, we get a little surprise from Hatsuho. Although the real ending comes after the end credits roll. I hope One * 2 will be as good as Onegai Teacher.

The Breakdown
Bandai Entertainment has licensed this series and scheduled a release date of somewhere around April. Keep those pennies saved, as this is a series you don’t want to miss if you are a fan of shounen type anime.

Argentosoma Vol. 1: Another Reality

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

Synopsis
Takuto Kaneshiro is a gifted young man. A student in metallurgy, he’s something of a genius. He’s got a sweet, lovable girlfriend. And he’s got a lot of dreams for his future. But one day, all his dreams shatter in a freak accident involving a secret experiment. Everything he knows, including his beloved girlfriend, die. And from there, things really go downhill…

Review
Not knowing any of the people who worked on this one, I didn’t know what to expect. From people who imported the show from Japan, I was told the series didn’t hold their interest, or simply was not their type of thing. I won’t lie, this show isn’t for everybody. Then again, I don’t quite follow the norm.

I can’t really compare this show to anything else. It’s got awesome hints of things to come (that guy who repeatedly spouts Shakespeare on occasion who only Ryu Soma can see is very interesting.) The animation is good, as is everything else. It’s a very well rounded show, that has me to intrigued that now I have to see this show through to it’s end. And I’ve only seen the first five episodes.

The Breakdown
Buy the first volume, and give it a try. Very interesting to say the least, and has some very cool characters in it. Defintely good that it has the main character giving an evil-esque view of the story. The show is just a great breath of fresh air.

Saber Marionette J

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

Synopsis
This has got to be one of the most complete T.V. series I’ve seen so far. Up to action, drama, love and comedy. SMJ captures all the aspects that are needed in an Anime. Characters are lighten up by the voices of famous voice actors such as Megumi Hayashibara (Lime). No one can hate Lime, Megumi-san has did such a good job with the kawaii (cute) voice of Lime. Well let’s get to the story shall we?

Review
In the near future, human kind has settled out to outer space in search of livable land and which they stumbled upon Terra II. An accident occurred and the space ship has to make an emergency landing on the planet. Problem is the 6 survivors of the crash are all males. Which means reproduction is not possible. After all that, they found out about cloning themselves and making marionettes representing the females. After a few generations passed, a young teenaged boy name Otaru Mamiya (our main character) has some fight with Hanagata Mitsurugi (the clown in SMJ) and then Otaru falls down the river and floats to the run down Japoness Pioneer Museum. In there he finds his first marionette Lime and adventure starts from there. You will be introduced to new marionettes as you go on in SMJ.

The Breakdown
SMJ is just so complete, even the ending is. Not saying other anime have bad endings but by far SMJ is the best I’ve seen. You must go out and buy it. *Hey* What are you still waiting for!!!!!!!

Saber Marionette J Again

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

Synopsis
Another excellent sequel from an excellent series. Saber Marionette J Again is ‘Program 26′ with six parts. This is an OVA so the animation is very well done. Everyone has his or her own opinions and my opinion to SMJA is that this OVA sequel is really funny. I’ve never laughed so much while watching an anime since Slam Dunk.

Review
In SMJA you’ll meet another marionette (Marine) built with another maiden circuit (this circuit is somewhat different, you’ll see when you watch it J). The NSM-X1 codenamed Marine has an anti-plasma shield not only that, she even have the ability to control plasma and absorb it as energy to fire energy attacks. Marine has everything Otaru’s three marionettes have. From cooking to fighting, Marine is on top. The whole story of SMJA is stopping a plasma storm big enough to destroy all of Terra II. (Can you guess who can stop the storm?) Although SMJA is good, but its not enough to tame my craze for Saber Marionette J. So now I have to wait till April for Saber Marionette J to X to be released!!!

The Breakdown
You just can’t go wrong with SMJA, because its just that damn good that even I can’t come up with a overall statement to end this review (LOL)

Saber Marionette J to X

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

Synopsis
It’s not over yet! Return to Japoness for a visit with everyone’s favorite marionettes! Everyone’s enjoying the peace and quiet - except for Lime. The winds of change are in the air, and the old ways are being swept aside.
With Lorelei back, TerraII is going to halt production on marionettes. Even the Sanja Festival, the high point of Japoness culture, is undergoing radical change. Will everyone forget about Lime and the others? Amidst all this turmoil is a visit from Hanagata’s father, a high-tech float race, a thief, a letter from Faust, and the rise of the Shiritaki Alliance!

Review
My all time favorite series is finally back for a third run! Terra II is still in the process of having females. In the meantime other countries want to steal the female clones, so that they can have control over all of Terra II. Also development of the Marionettes has been ceased, because of the revival of the females.

SMJ to X is pretty funny, and that’s what you can expect from all the SMJ series.

The Breakdown
It is sad to say SMJ to X is the last of the J series. If you want more Saber Marionette, you’ll have to watch Saber Marionette R, a retelling of J only…different ^_^

Silent Mobius Vol. 1: Earth Under Attack

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

Synopsis
In the future, Tokyo is a desolate place. After a massive earthquake, the city struggles to survive. The old city is in ruins. Acid rain falls from the sky. And worst of all, evil beings called Lucifer Hawk have invaded Earth to destroy humanity. Earth’s last line of defense is a secret branch of the Police, the AMP. Its members include the psychic Yuki, the cyborg Kiddy, the Shinto priestess Nami, the visionaire Lebia, and their chief, the mysterious Rally Cheyenne. But they’re about to get a new and powerful member. Kasumi Liqueur, a woman with strange powers and a dark past, is about to join the fight. Can her presence tip the scales in Earth’s favor?

Review
Silent Mobius is a Kia Asamiya work. Most people know him by the series Martian Successor Nadesico, which was the Anime that got me into the Anime world.

My first impression upon hearing that Silent Mobius is Kia Asamiya’s work, I immediately said, I must get it! Then of course, I got it and here I write about Silent Mobius V.1: Earth Under Attack.

Kasumi Liqueur, who was a secretary in Hawaii, came back to Tokyo as a request made by Rally Cheyenne, only telling her that she had information about the death of Kasumi’s mother. When the plane was landing Kasumi was attacked and the plane was brought down to the ground. When she regains consciousness, a Category 2 Lucifer Hawk addresses Kasumi by the Key and tried to take her with him. Then comes a story period and Kasumi is “awakened” to destroy the Lucifer Hawk…

Through out volume one, character’s backgrounds are revealed, and there was light stuff. Such as, running from the Ghouls (a gang in Heaven’s Hall) and parties. There were only three to four episodes that AMP was fighting a Lucifer Hawk. Of course I’d expect a total twist in the story later on, because I’ve watched Nadesico before.

The Breakdown
Silent Mobius is an anime in its class, I haven’t seen any magic mixed with sci-fi before, maybe except X, but Silent Mobius came first. One more thing, Kia Asamiya is the man!

Silent Mobius Vol. 2: Twists of Fate

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

Synopsis
The fight against the Lucifer Hawk rages on, and the women of AMP seem no closer to victory. Meanwhile, Roy and Katsumi begin to get closer. The arrival of Rally’s sister Rosa, however, brings startling secrets about Rally, and deals a crippling blow to one of the members of AMP. Meanwhile, as the team copes with the Lucifer Hawk menace as best they can, a new player enters the game and begins manipulating them. But a new member joins the AMP just when they need her most, the fiery, youthful, obnoxious Lum Cheng. But is she worse than the Lucifer Hawk?

Review
Right off the bat in Silent Mobius volume 2, the show goes over two more character’s stories, and then as expected from Kia Asamiya in the following episodes. A BIG twist over the story (related to title name?) happens. The truth is finally revealed not only to Katsumi, but to all of AMP too. Katsumi struggles between who she can trust and who she can’t, after some thinking. She decides to return to AMP and help fight the Lucifer Hawks despite knowing the truth that she is *ahem*. As for the character Lum Cheng, from Neo Hong Kong. She is an elementor, who of course uses elemental magic to fight. Lum is very skilled in combat as she has beaten Katsumi in shooting practice. Lum also uses a staff type weapon to fight. She definitely has helped AMP in their increase in power to fight the Lucifer Hawks.

As the story progresses, you’ll be able to finally know the purpose of why Gigelf Liqueur opened the gate to Nemesis. I’m just itching to see what happens in volume three. Which will be released on October 22, 2002.

The Breakdown
Silent Mobius is an anime in its class, I haven’t seen any magic mixed with sci-fi before, maybe except X, but Silent Mobius came first. One more thing, Kia Asamiya is the man! ^_^;;

Please Teacher

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

Synopsis
This is wacky, funny and at the same time very entertaining. In case you don’t know what ‘ONEGAI’ means it means ‘Please,’ so the title of the anime is ‘Please Teacher.’ Don’t go off thinking anything perverted now! ^_^

Review
The story of this is an alien came to Earth to research it. And she became a teacher known as the beautiful Kazami Mizuho sensei. The funny thing is, she gets in trouble and has to marry a high school kid to cover up so none of them gets kicked out of the school. You’ll be saying, uhh hello? A high school kid isn’t old enough to marry…But the thing is that the guy that she marries is Kusanagi Kei the main character.
He’s odd in a way, having his own disease that he calls ‘teitai’ which he passes out at times. And one day went in a coma for three years, so the high school Kei-kun is actually eighteen years old. Hence it makes perfect sense that he’s old enough to marry. This anime is really fun to watch!! I haven’t had any good dose of anime lately and this is a definitely worth checking out!!! If you’re into comedy, you’ll thank me ^_^ ‘Watch it now, Saiyo san ji ko yo’ [Top Priority]

The Breakdown
Animation, sound, and story are the things I enjoy most about Onetei. I can watch this series daily and still won’t get bored (Not that I haven’t tried J).
‘Ed: Oh no, not again…Alpha’s gone to watch that OneOneTeiTei thingy’

Outlaw Star

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

Synopsis
Saymen nai de kasen nai de, Oh Hi guess you came here for an Outlaw Star review. Outlaw Star is a cool anime, Gene Starwind and Jim Hawking are partners and they have a business called “Starwind and Hawking.” They take jobs that involve fighting and good pay.

Review
One day a women named Hilda asked them for bodyguard duty. A few scenes later Gene meets Melfina in a suitcase. (Later on Melfina will sometimes be addressed by the name “The Key”). A lot of things happen and then Gene and Jim got the Outlaw Star grappler ship. The main control is Gilliam II. This Grappler ship needs the help of Melfina in order to move. This series is full of surprises so try it if you have the time.

The Breakdown
The story is really entertaining, but for one view only. I haven’t watched Outlaw Star since I finished the series. (I only reviewed the Hot Springs episode). You can get Outlaw Star on 3 DVD collector box sets, available at your nearest retail store. It contains 8-9 episodes each. Costing around $40.00. That’s a reasonable deal for 8-9 episodes out of 26 episodes series!!!
