Synopsis
In a war zone devastated by minefields and strife, a dying child is missing. She fights a foe more deadly than any terrorist. Review
Central Park Media brings to you another dose of this addictive drug I call Black Jack. I cannot praise this series anymore; it would just be spoiling it. In this volume, Black Jack is hired by a mob boss to cure his grand daughter who has a heart condition in another country where a war has broken out. With the obligation to comply with his word, he travels long distances just to meet up with his client. (Notice I used client, instead of patient ^_^).

After a successful operation, Black Jack stayed for an extra month or two to help out with the refugees. He charged $1 for every patient, but he took IOUs. (Hmm… so he was not all about the money after all). The show later shifts to New York City where it is all jolly. That is until, the mob boss gets shot up and an immediate operation had to be performed in order to save his life. Black Jack was present, but a jealous doctor opposed in having an unlicensed doctor to operate on any patients. Because of his jealousy, he almost caused the life of another. Of course, Black Jack would not allow that to happen… will he?

I know I sound like a broken record, but I must give credit to where it is due. Black Jack really has been one of a few series that has amazed me this year. This is something that I can never overdose on :P. This is the only doctor you should be checking out for you anime-insomnia.

The Breakdown
Let us state the obvious. You make the choices in your life. But making the choice to watch Black Jack certainly will not be a bad choice, out of the many choices you will make throughout your life time.

Synopsis
Ai Yori Aoshi is a romantic story about Kaoru Hanabishi, a college student who, after having cut all ties to his family, lives a very lonely life. That’s going to change however, as a friend from his past will soon come back into his life, and completely change the way he lives. Aoi Sakuraba spent her entire life working hard to become a wife worthy of Kaoru. Even though he left his family (thus ending their betrothal) Kaoru is still the only man Aoi can think of. Ai Yori Aoshi is their story.

Review
At first Ai Yori Aoshi appears as though it is going to be something truly unique. The story development in the first few episodes is strong and very well written. An episode or two later however, it becomes apparent that those episodes were just an intro to a much more filler-based anime, and that Ai Yori Aoshi actually has a lot in common with other anime. Love Hina and Happy Lesson come to mind, because they are both examples of anime in which one male character and several female characters live under one roof. Once the rest of the cast shows up, Ai Yori Aoshi goes through all the cliche plotlines. The ‘I’ll make a boxed lunch so that he’ll fall in love with me,’ episode, the ‘Let’s all go to the beach and show off our new sexy swimsuits,’ episode, and of course the prerequisite ‘I ended up naked in a hot spring with a guy,’ episode. The list goes on.

It really isn’t anything you haven’t seen before, but regardless, it is still quite enjoyable. I attribute this to Ai Yori Aoshi’s entertaining cast. Each of the girls is given several episodes to develop their personalities, and they are all quite unique. They are also very cute in design, as is most of the artwork in this series.

Towards the end of the series the filler episodes cease and all of the conflict that was mentioned in the intro episodes returns to the spotlight for an emotional conclusion. Cliche or not, by the time it all ends you will be left with a smile and probably recommend Ai Yori Aoshi to all your friends.

The Breakdown
Ai Yori Aoshi succeeds in being a romantic journey for Aoi and Kaoru that will probably manage to bring out the sap in you. It’s great for a date and also funny enough to watch with a bunch of friends. It’s a safe buy.

Synopsis
Ai Yori Aoshi ~Enishi~ takes place two years after Aoi and Kaoru were first reunited in the original Ai Yori Aoshi. While there is no overall main story, there are several small plots that take place over the course of the series. Special attention is given to Chika, who appeared late in the original series, and to Tina, the American who can barely speak English because she is so Japanese.

Review
I hate to start a review on such a negative note, but the fact of the matter is, Ai Yori Aoshi ~Enishi~ does absolutely nothing to advance the plot of the original, nor does it answer any questions you may have had about it. It exists purely as an extra set of filler episodes for fans of the original series. In fact, the main storyline (the love story between Aoi and Kaoru) while present is hardly of any importance with the exception of one episode, and that failed to satisfy my hopes for the series.

Putting all that aside however, it is still an enjoyable series that contains many happy moments to remember. The last few episodes are the most emotional, but at a cost. There is very little comedy in these episodes, and the change of pace is somewhat out of place. Still, there is some payoff for getting to the end.

By the time its over, nothing of Ai Yori Aoshi’s story is resolved, so it looks like another sequel is inevitable. Despite my opinion that ~Enishi~ does not live up to the original, I still love the characters and hope that another sequel is in the works.

The Breakdown
6.5 looks like a low score, but it really isn’t that bad. If you enjoyed the first series then I suggest you give this one a try as well.

Synopsis
All year round the sakura trees mysteriously blossom on the island of Hatsune. A couple converse and run through the pink flowers in the distance. A girl makes a wish from the side of her window. Another year of grade school has begun. A transfer student from America blissfully says hello to a friend she hasn’t seen for years to fulfill a long kept promise…

Review
Da Capo is a 26 episode series produced by studio Circus. Like Kanon and To Heart, it’s another anime based off of a PC hentai dating simulation game and released child friendly for the Playstation 2. Dictionary.com translates Da Capo in this fashion: adv. Music Abbreviation DC. From the beginning. Used as a direction to repeat a passage. In the last episode Junnichi explains: People say that you can’t reset life, like a game. But is that really true? If you stumble you can always start over, like a da capo. That’s what I would like to believe. Because that is not a start from zero.

The Breakdown
Kanon, Taiyaki. Onegai Sensei, the red box of pocky sticks. Da Capo, Miharu’s bananas!!! Or a pot of nabe. ^_^

Synopsis
Sister Princess is the story of a young man and his twelve sisters. After failing his high school entrance exams, Minakami Wataru gets accepted into a special high school that is located on Promise Island which happens to be where his twelve sisters live. Sister Princess is quite simply an anime about twelve girls that really really love their older brother and the time they spend together.

Review
I am not going to sugarcoat this one. Sister Princess is a terrible anime. The best thing about it is that it is not as bad as its sequel (see my review for Sister Princess ~Re Pure~) because it at least has a story that has some direction. Unfortunately that story is weak and uninteresting. All this anime has going for it is decent animation and music. Aside from that, there is no substance.

The majority of Sister Princess is an endless circle of conflict and resolution. Normally that would be a good thing, but the conflicts are not all that conflicting. I mean, if the main plot of an episode is ‘Uh oh, I don’t know which skirt to buy. Won’t my big brother help me?’ then there is a problem. Basically in every episode one of the girls comes up with some sort of problem and perfect Minakami Wataru solves it without being asked thus proving to all the sisters that he is deserving of their undying love.

Speaking of undying love, it doesn’t take long for that love to become a bit unsettling. In fact, every one of Minakami Wataru’s twelve sisters wants to marry him. That just can’t be right. Thankfully it never gets too romantic, but that is because by default nothing interesting ever really happens.

What more can I say? Maybe ADV will have the sense to cancel the localization of Sister Princess.

Synopsis
Sister Princess ~Re Pure~ is about the uninteresting everyday lives of Minakami Wataru and his little sisters and why they love him so very much.

Review
I don’t know why I ever watched this anime after the crap that was the original Sister Princess. I guess I’m obsessive compulsive in my desire to finish what I start. After watching Sister Princess ~Re Pure~ however I may be able to break that habit out of sheer boredom.

Sister Princess ~Re Pure~ is without a doubt the worst anime I have ever seen. It proves once again that looks can be deceiving because despite the beautiful animation and music, the story is the most awful, boring plot I have ever suffered through.

It starts with the cast of Sister Princess, an anime that should have never been made in the first place. Then it takes away any sort of linearity in the plot and replaces it with self-contained stories that have the complexity of a light switch. Then it dedicates one episode to each of Minakami Wataru’s twelve sisters, making sure that you do not have enough time to really get to know any of them. Add to it a bucket of plot holes, a disturbing incest factor and a boring lead and you get Sister Princess ~Re Pure~. Pure crap.

Synopsis
Chise is cute, but a bit dense. She’s also small and timid. On top of that, she’s clumsy and her grades are below average. She does excel in world history although nothing positive will come out of it. She has a habit of apologizing. Her goal in life is to become stronger. To me, she seems like a really troublesome kid. Regardless, I was her boyfriend, and she was my girlfriend.

Based on the original 7 volume manga by Shin Takahashi in 2000, Saishu Heiki Kanojo, also known as Saikano or in english She. The Ultimate Weapon, truly is The Last Love Song on This Little Planet. Here at Animesou we bow in respect to our sempais THEM, Anime Academy, Anime Agency, and Anime-Axess for we are The Last Anime Site on This Little Planet to present a review. Saikano breaks all the stereotypes of the robot or android girlfriend genre. It is not a Chobits, Hand Maid May, or Mahoromatic: Automatic Maiden, all of which were past Pioneer series. It is the romance of two high school students, Shuji and Chise, juxtaposed to the desolate World War 3 environment. Set in the remote countryside of Hokkaido, Japan, the anime begins five days after Chise first asked Shuji out. Though Shuji still has his doubts, as time passes he finds himself falling more and more in love with her. Then one day while shopping in Sapporo, what looks to be 100 unidentified bombers commence their assault on the civilian population. Buildings collapse and amidst the muddled debris Shuji, bleeding, perceives to his astonishment Chise, decked out and battle ready.

Synopsis
Everyone has a purpose… Once upon a time, a little doggy poo lived on the side of road. He felt all alone in the world. He believed that nobody needed him for anything, and that he had no purpose in life. If only Doggy Poo had a reason for being, then he wouldn’t give up on his dream to be useful to the world. One day, Doggy Poo meets a lovely dandelion sprout. Will she explain his purpose in life? Will she help him make his dream come true?

Review
Wow. This one word can sum up Doggy Poo, which is a very good thing. Doggy Poo is aimed towards children, but the values in it certainly are not solely for kids. What do you think of when you hear Doggy Poo? A nasty piece of doo doo on the ground from a dog of course. This show is impressive, I love the way how the message they are sending is that everyone exists for a reason, even though if there are people who say otherwise. I know it is hard to fall in love with poo, but this poo is so cute!

In order to create Doggy Poo, a lot of hours of constructing the atmosphere were used. Using clay, plastic, and etc. to build models of what is to be the show. Although the show is not drawn, it moves fluid with the positioning of the clay in every synch. The lip movements are also matching to the words, so no dialogue would be spoken when the model’s lips are closed; this goes for both English and Korean dialogues. The new technology is amazing and, damn does Doggy Poo look beautiful. This is not some Teletubbies atmosphere we are talking about. The atmosphere of this show is astonishing to what a viewer would normally expect out of a clay modeled show.

Children are sure to love Doggy Poo, because it is cute. Parents should allow their children to watch this show, solely because of the ultimate message it delivers, some adults can use that message too. I am sure there are people who question their existence at times of their life, and Doggy Poo provides a positive look of the meaning of life; claiming that anything or anyone is meant for something no matter what. At the end when Poo becomes a flower, it shows that, even what is said to be ugly and dirty, can be beautiful in the end once they have achieve their seemingly uncertain goal as long as they do not give up on themselves. That, my friends, is a great positive message that creators should strive to acknowledge in their works. Not all anime has to be about killing, fighting or getting with a harem of hot girls. As long as something positive is delivered to the viewers through this medium we call anime, it will all be good. Of course, not only for anime fanatics, but also for various people of the globe, who are in need of something to guide them through their hard times.

Synopsis
In a world where the grim reaper can strike at any time, a renegade surgeon known only as Black Jack operates outside the law. For the rich and dying, he performs miracles of a macabre medical nature. Unafraid of mysteries that verge on the paranormal, Black Jack is the one man with the power to cheat death… for a terrible price!

Episode 1:
Lured to a cursed island, Black Jack is curious to see what sort of disease is worth a three million dollar fee. When he gets there, however, he discovers a century-old virus that causes the victim to suffer painful spasms as all the water drains from his body - leaving the victim dead from dehydration. But when a frightened mob decides to take matters into their own hands, it’ll take all of Black Jack’s skill to keep his patient alive.

Episode 2:
Fate brought Black Jack into the lives of four teenage girls when they most needed his help. Now, six months later, fate has reunited them. But this time, the prognosis is not good. Two of the girls have already died. One of the girls is alive, but mentally unstable. The last girl is lying on a hospital bed, but her chances are slim. Her only hope is immediate brain surgery. Black Jack must perform the complicated surgical procedure and discover what happened in his absence…

Review
Black Jack is one of the surprise series of the year for me. Do not be fooled by the title, just because it sounds corny, Black Jack is nothing of that caliber. Although it sounds like and looks like another typical action flick, Black Jack is actually a series about the medical field. Now those of us who are not fans of doctors would not appreciate this as those who are. But I guarantee you will have a different outlook at doctors after you finish watching just volume one. I definitely had fun watching this show. Black Jack just has something about it that attracts the viewer. Maybe it is because I hardly see anything that relates to doctors, but that just adds originality to this great series.

One thing that I find strange is that Black Jack (the character) has the ability to fix up other people’s bodies, but not his own. He stitched up some girl’s face without a scar, but his own face looks so patched up. What is going on there dude? Each volume contains two episodes, which to me is not enough. Black Jack is like that drug addiction that the character in episode two had. When you are watching it your mind is unconscious of your surroundings and when you are not watching it you want to go back for extras.

Anyways, this title is a, what I would call a sleeper hit. There is not much hype about it, but damn it, this show is one of a kind and a good one at that. Black Jack is a strange anime. The little girl you see that is with Black Jack is not as little as her appearance hints, I find her being a character that lightens the show up at certain periods of times. Anime fans, go check this gem out now!

Never have I been so interested in the medical field than after watching this show. I am looking forward to how the story will break out (get it? Infection hehe).

Synopsis
Episode 3:
Two victims thrash in agony, scarred by the war of nations. Once again, renegade doctor Black Jack is caught in the crossfire. With Death breathing down his neck, he braves bullets and deadly biohazards to save the afflicted. Will the detective doctor prevail once more? Or will he pay the ultimate price for his mercenary ways?

Episode 4:
An infamous actress is suddenly stricken gravely ill. While she’s visibly undernourished and weak, she doesn’t seem to be able to eat. He has run every conceivable test, yet nothing appears to be wrong with her. Unable to hold her food down, the young star has become desperate. Considering suicide to end her torment, she has found a special doctor to help her die. Black Jack must race against time to save her - his only lead: the girl’s past and a deadly secret from World War I. It is a perplexing question of faith when Black Jack is hired to keep her from dying.

In this volume of Black Jack, we are the spectators of a war that for some odd reason resembles what is going on in Iraq. In the show the United States is referred to as Federal Unites and Iraq is the Ortega Republic. Anyways, politics is not my specialty and certainly is not the goal of this episode, so here we go, let us start the review.

The show starts off with a beautiful woman seeking medical help from Black Jack for another person. This person later on turns out to be her father and the ruler that the Federal Unites imprisoned (sound familiar?). The situation turns bad as the army of the Ortega Republic ambushes the prisoner transport and retrieves their leader back. It is a full proof plan until, his health catches up to him. I know Black Jack is not real, but it is real enough that he cannot cure everyone, of course this was displayed in the first volume already too. The episode soon turns into a battle field rather than settling for the emergency room atmosphere that we all expected. From needles and scalpers we go to guns and bullets. It no longer is about the health of a man, rather it becomes the strength of a dying person trying to deliver a last sense of morale for his citizens to build upon. This is some top notch stuff, I surely enjoyed it tremendously.

In the next episode, a lot of males might like it. It is about a female actress, who simply wanted to act. But when financial problems strikes her, she is forced to model for a porn magazine. Then it began… one porn movie after another. It was the only movies she was getting cast in. Until she becomes ill with an unknown sickness that causes her to throw up everything she eats. With a noticeable frail body, she requests our good doctor, Black Jack to help. I will stop here with the spoilers; it gets good throughout the show, so you might want to tune in yourself.

Black Jack is just great. It is not one dimensional. It is not solely about patching up people. There are small messages generated through it that if given the enough thought to it, it might latch on to you. Since minds are different, what I make out from what I saw, is sure to be different from yours so see what you come up with and make sense out of it. It is actually quite fun to put your mind to work after watching an anime, you not only understand better, but will like it better too.
